What to do with an old wedding gown

I have to admit that I am a Goodwill and thrift store shopper. It is sad to see so many used wedding gowns in these stores. Pinterest has a lot of good ideas for reusing these heirlooms.

A client brought me her mother's wedding dress, which was in pretty good shape for being over 30 years old. She and her husband are in the process of adopting a child so the Teddy Bear and Dog that I made from the dress were perfect. I added a few pieces of pastel fabric to compliment the lace and satin from the wedding dress.

They came out so cute.

Still in love with New England

We just got back from a wonderful two week vacation back "home" to New England. It's funny that after living in North Carolina for over 24 years I still feel like Massachusetts is my home. It certainly tugs at my heart strings. Cape Cod will always be magical to me for many reasons, and the White Mountain region of New Hampshire is one of the places that I feel most at peace.

It was wonderful to spend time with my niece, nephew and brother in law (and my sister and brother, whom I always carry in my heart). I was able to say good bye to my brother at Sunset Lake, NH; a place that we were all happy in our youth.

It was such a beautiful, bitter sweet and healing time for me.

My sister and brother gav
e me the gift of looking forward to every day and appreciating every moment.
